First Night in Crib

Isaiah slept in his crib last night for the first time. Sorry no tears from this Mama, I was THRILLED to get some much needed sleep. And today he has been taking all his naps there too! Oh please tell me this is a sign of the times. *Today Isaiah is officially 7 weeks old.

The Art of Looking Thin

Even babies can teach us the art of looking thinner in photos:) These two pictures were taken within seconds of eachother, but in picture #1 he looks CHUNKY, and pic #2 you wonder if he is getting enough milk. Oh and yes that is Quincy's nose at the bottom of Pic #2. . .the dog is IN LOVE. . .can you blame him?

Sleeping Habits

It's been a long, exhausting week trying to figure out the best way to make Isaiah comfortable so he will sleep. Because he has grown out of his adorable bassinet and is starting to sleep differently Jaime and I have been trying all sorts of different techniques to get Isaiah to sleep soundly. As you can see we placed him on a nice, comfy down pillow. Don't be fooled by the closed eyes, this baby is hardly asleep. Take a good look at his arms and legs they are extended up in the air and in a matter of minutes his eyes will be open and he will be fussing because he just can't get comfortable:(
So I thought, "hey I sleep well, why not put in the position (and location) of where I sleep?" To no avail, Isaiah could still not find comfort. So I went against all the books and advice of mothers, pediatricians and nurses alike. . .and dare I say it?!? Heck, I even took a picture of it! I PUT HIM ON HIS TUMMY TO SLEEP! I will admit I watched with trepidation at first, but when the boy finally took a solid two hour nap without interruption I was SOLD.

Isaiah's Nursery

Jaime and I had so much fun putting Isaiah's nursery together. Jaime worked out his "fatherly skills" by installing a ceiling fan and putting together all of Isaiah's bedroom furniture. It's wonderful to have such a handy man as a husband:)

MY GLOW WORM

Isaiah has been a mover and a shaker since conception. I was feeling continual flutters in my tummy at 16 weeks and after seeing how much this boy moves there is no question it was him:). So after reading countless books and getting advice from one of my closest friends who also happens to be a NICU RN (thanks Medini:) I invested in "Swaddle Me" blankets. It is believed that babies that are swaddled sleep 1-2 hours longer than babies that are not. With these blankets Isaiah is unable to flail his arms in his sleep and wake himself up.

Isaiah has always resembled a glow worm to me (with his perfectly round head and big eyes), but man oh man when we swaddle him for the night-HE TRULY IS A GLOW WORM:)

Fresno Chaffee Zoo 2010

While Lex, Mom, and Kennedy were visiting for Spring break we took the little ones to the zoo. Jaime and I can't wait until Isaiah will be old enough to enjoy all the animals. During his first visit he slept the whole time, but was startled awake by the monkies:) Kennedy loved all the animals but especially loved being outdoors and being able to run around. We had a great time. And can't wait for Avery to be able to join us next time.

Kennedy just turned two at the end of March and Isaiah is one month in this video/pic. Kennedy was so adorable with Isaiah. She wanted to "carwee baby" all the time. Although she did not get her wish to carry Isaiah she was allowed to hold him and loved every minute of it. TOO CUTE!!!

Easter 2010

This year for Easter the Torres clan came to our casa. We had steak, shrimp cocktail, deviled eggs, and a delicioius strawberry cake that Diana (Jaime's sister) created for the special holiday. We played Texas Hold'em (Leo and Gabe winning and splitting the pot). Then my mom, Lex, and Kennedy came down for a couple days and we got to enjoy some of Easter break with Grandma Carol. We took long walks, went out to eat, went to the zoo and enjoyed the sweetness of Kennedy and Isaish together as cousins.

Isaiah at One Month

Isaiah was one month on April 4, 2010 (EASTER-hence the chick on his shoulder) and everyday I love him more and more. I can't wait for him to start smiling and giggling in response to our jubilant voices, but for now this precious face is all I need.

Isaiah at one month-

-On most nights wakes up twice during the night-12:30am, 3am, then 7 am. Or we can have a night like last night were every two hours he wants to eat- 12 am, 2 am, 4 am, 6am. . .at this point I question breast feeding because I would love for "Papa Jaime," to take over. Luckily after he eats Jaime does the burping and diaper change because I am exhausted and CRANKY!

-For the most part, is always moving unless he is in deep sleep. He kicks his legs, he stretches out his arms, he moves his lips and tongue, and he grunts:0)

-Has NO PROBLEM pooping!

-Is able to lift his head off my shoulder or up off the ground if put on his tummy.

-Hates to be cold.

-Cries when his diaper is being changed (95 % of diaper changes). I think this has to do with being cold.

-Only likes his pacifier when he is tired and winding down. Other than that you put it in his mouth and he gags, like "what is the world is this plastic thing?"

-Enjoys his baths as long as you keep him nice and warm.

-Still sleeps/fits in his bassinet. I still have not been successful in getting him to take a nap in his crib.

-He loves to look up at our ceiling lights and fans. Put him on a blanket and place him on his back he will be content for minutes if a light or fan is up above.

-He officially has grown out of all his newborn cloths and is now sporting his 3-6 mth outfits.

Going back in time...Uterine time

Isaiah with technology these days, we were able to lay eyes on you at just 12 weeks old. And then at 22 weeks old we got even more pics. Here are just two pics to remind us of those times. *Note to self-there is a CD with countless pics of Isaiah in womb at 22 weeks old the time you found out he was a boy.

Elvis or Clark Kent????

Isaiah was born with a bushel of hair. Now if we could just decide how we want to style it. Jaime likes the more conservative approach (part on the side, front slicked over) while I like to stir things up a bit (curls and fluff).

The Winning Ticket!

Dare I say this. . .but thus far Isaiah has been THE IDEAL baby. The only time he makes a stink is when we lay him down to change his diaper and oh man does he hoot and hollow then. But as soon as you pick him up he stops his fussing and is back to Mr Nice Guy. This first month we have been able to take him out to Sushi, Flemmings, Costco, and the Mall without any problems. The little guy just sleeps peacefully and allows his Ma and Pa to enjoy themselves. Each time I feel like we have won the lotto:)!

The Bassinet

For Christmas my mom got me the bassinet I had been eyeing for quite some time. I was hesitant to make the purchase because of the price, but Grandma Carol decided to surprise us with it as a Christmas gift and boy am I glad she did. I have loved rocking my sweet baby boy good night in it and it positions itself perfectly to the side of our bed. It will be a sad day when Isaiah out grows one of my favorite baby items:(. I've taken video and pictures of Isaiah in his bassinet because I never want to forget how precious he is in his "moses basket."
