Tuesday: March 2, 2010-I had a doctor's appointment at 8am. After a solid week of walking two miles everyday I was expecting to hear good news from Dr. Vish. Unstead I was told that I was not dialated at all, so we decided to go ahead and schedule my induction on March 8, 2010. Having a date set gave me a huge surge of energy so off I went to do some serious shopping. Not the serious shopping I would do as my former self, but serious shopping for a 40 week, 168 lb pregnant woman. I was out all day buying last minute items for the nursery, new decor for mine and Jaime's bathroom, and knic-nacs for the house. By the time I got home at 3 pm I was ready for a nap. While trying to nap I began having cramps that would not allow me to sleep. By 6 pm Jaime and I were making dinner and the "cramps" ie. contractions started to become stronger. I decided I better go pack and take a shower "just in case." By midnight we were on our way to hospital. I was 1 cm dialated, so they gave me a demerol shot in my butt and sent us home. I could not believe they were sending me home! I was in so much pain, but the demerol shot got me so high and took away some of the pain off we went. I remember waking up throughout the night moaning, rubbing my lower back with a tennis ball and then passing out again. Oy Vey!
Wednesday: March 3, 2010- Dr. Vish called my cell phone and woke me from my "doped up stupor." He said he could tell from the agony in my voice that I needed to go get admitted and I agreed. After a quick brush of the teeth and phone call to the moms', Jaime and I were off again. By 9:30 am I was being checked and it was determined that my water had broke and I was now 3 cms. Praise the LORD!!! I had already discussed with Dr. Vish when I could get my epidural and 3 cm was the magic number. And because I am a perfusionist and work with the annestheologists that administer the epidurals at CRMC, I immediately called them up and asked them to HELP!!! I am not going to lie-I was the biggest baby when it came to these contractions. Hech, I only made it to 3 cms and thought I was going to die. I could not imagine making it all the way to 10 cm without any drugs. So by 11:30 am I was admitted and my epidural was started. I was now one happy camper. Jaime was able to look at me once again without me sreaming at him:) The waiting game was about to begin.
Thursday: March 4, 2010- I started to push at 1:00am. Ten pushes later, and at exactly 1:35 am Isaish came out crying. Mom, Betty (my mother inlaw), and Jaime were all there to witness the glorious event. Total labor time: 26 hours, finally holding my precious little boy-TIMELESS.
