Don't Let these Charming Looks Fool You-

Twenty two months later Jaime and I have regained control of our lives (errr I mean bed). Isaiah is finally taking his afternoon naps and sleeping in his own bed at night. We began the process in mid December when I finally had the energy and will power to accomplish the daunting task. The first couple WEEKS (yes weeks, not days) were quit the challenge. Isaiah was relentless with his tantrums. He would cry inconsolably when we put him down and wake up countless times during the night crying for his "Papa or Mama." His longest crying session was from 1:30 to 3:45 pm when he did not want to take his nap. There was no question in my mind that he was tired because he had fallen asleep in his high chair while eating lunch. He fought the fight for two hours and fifteen minutes-he is that stubborn. He also tried the throwing up routine because it had worked so well in the past, but this time it was a quick change of the clothes and back to bed. Also in the beginning he would climb out of bed and come out his door, so one day I finally held the door shut from the outside. He tried opening the door over twenty times to no avail and from that day forward he still thinks once the door is shut it will not open until I come to open it (I keep waiting for him to figure out that is not the case, but 4 weeks later he still has not tried opening his bedroom door). Sometimes we would cave and Jaime would go sleep with him in his bed, but for the most part we stuck to our guns. I am happy to report that as of last week January 16, 2102 Isaiah goes down for his naps and bedtime with ease. He is sleeping through the night. He has even started to wake up and happily entertain himself with his books or toys instead of crying for one of us to come straight away to get him. Sometimes he pouts for a few minutes after we put him down, but it is nothing in comparison to what he use to do. He often becomes excited when he hears it is nap or bedtime because he knows this is when we go and read books together. I can't believe this day has finally arrived. Jaime and I are just giddy that 1) the battle has finally been WON and 2) we have our bed to ourselves again and 3) we are finally getting a good nights sleep. Things are definitely looking up in the Torres House!
