I have to say I have always loved three year old's. I think they are beautiful blend of an independent, communicating little person all while still having their sweet, tender baby faces and toddler charm.
Isaiah at three years old fits this description to a tee. Every day I tell him how much I love him and he softly responds "I love you too Mama," and gives me a kiss on the lips. When he gets into trouble (a spank on the butt or sent to his room) through his tears he always says "I'm sorry Mama, I'm sorry." He is quickly learning how to MELT MY HEART with his words. Here is what else Isaiah is up to at three:
-Obsessed with fishing. If I give him the option to go to the park or fishing, without skipping a beat he chooses to go fishing. Which means one of two things-he tags along with Jaime to our community lake, drops his line in and reels it in over and over again. Or he heads out to our back yard to do the same thing in our stream.
-He imitates everything that Jaime does while fishing. Lately we've been enjoying the warm mid-mornings in our backyard and as I sit and drink my coffee I get to sit back and watch Isaiah put on a show. He reaches down into his pocket to grab his imaginary cell phone to talk on (Jaime gets lots of work calls-morning, noon and night) and then when he's done talking he shoves "it" back into his pocket. He'll say to himself or to Jonathan, "you wanna go to the next spot?" and "Oh did you see it?" or "Oh I missed it!" and "You wanna touch it?" He even started to do this fake chuckle mid sentence. He would be saying something random and then go "ahhh ha ha" and then carry on. Only after seeing Isaiah do this repeatedly did I realize Jaime does this laugh quite a bit. HILARIOUS!!!
-He has started to mother Jonathan. Isaiah will be shutting the fridge door with Jonathan right there and he will say to him "Watch your fingers Johnjohn." Or when we are on our walks and Jonathan wants to stay behind to watch the big dog behind the fence Isaiah will start shouting at him to "come on!" And races back to go tug on him to follow along.
-His favorite foods are: PB&J sandwiches (grape jelly is his favorite), edamame, miso soup, and "wormmies" aka noddles.
- Isaiah is Mr Make Believe. He is always talking to himself and has a story going on in his head. I was the EXACT SAME WAY AS A KID (never realized it starts this early). My sisters and I could play for hours pretending we were school teachers, mothers, hairstylists.... fortunately Isaiah is typically acting out a Power Ranger, Ninja Turtle or Toy Story scene. I have to secretly act like I'm not watching him because when he realizes I'm watching he tends to get shy and stop.
-His new thing is that he is a Jaguar. "I'm a Jaguar," he'll tell me and run around the house.
-Before going to bed he likes to do one of three things: watch a show (Curious George is his favorite), read a book, or play on the I-PAD. On a good night he gets to do all three:)
-I will be working NON-STOP the first three weeks of March, but after that I intend to have this boy potty-trained. He is ready.
