Oct 2013-Jonathan's 2nd Birthday

October 2013
Isaiah 3.5 years old, Jonathan 2 years old

We decided to have a low key second birthday for Jonathan because honestly, we were over all the commotion after Hawaii and Mara and Leo's wedding.  He woke up from his afternoon nap to find the downstairs decorated in his favorite Thomas&Friends theme and we had Jaime's family over for dinner, cake and ice cream.  Jonathan was one content boy.  Here he is on his special day:

If you tell Jonathan to smile for the picture, he freaks out.  We have a lot of these pics of him lately.

Sure Big Bro you can help:)

Sampling the goods.

Grandma Betty surprised him with his Thomas Cake.

Uncles- Steve and Gabe helping set up the new train track.

Trains and airplanes for gifts this year-Jonathan was in HEAVEN.

GREAT TO SEE JOHNJOHN eating his birthday cake this year!
(He wouldn't touch it last year-impending stomach flu)

October 2013- J turns TWO!

October 19, 2013
Stats-27lbs 5 oz (50th precentile) 36.5" tall (75th percentile)

My baby is turning two today and I can't stop smothering him with kisses.  Jaime, Isaiah, and myself could not even fathom our family without him.  He makes all of our hearts sing!  Here's what our JohnJohn is up to at TWO YEARS OLD:

-Sings along to Thomas&Friends theme song or hums the tune going "dededededeet..."
-He is very skiddish when something scares him on the tv.  He'll run and hide or cover his face.  When we are at the movie theater he insists on sitting on my lap and his whole body will tense up and he'll grab on to me real tight when scene or character scares him.  It's so sweet and innocent to me.
-Runs with really high knees around the house when he gets extra happy.
-Loves carrots and pancakes.  Every morning at breakfast time he says,  "I want pancakes, Mama."  "Yeah, I want pancakes."
-Always requests to watch Thomas and Friends when asked if he wants to watch a show.
-He is extra sensitive when Jaime gets mad at him.  He will get this huge frown on his face and look down toward the ground..."I sorry, I sorry" he mopes.
-When I have to reprimand him he will sometimes scurry over to Isaiah and mumbles quietly, "brother...brother."  (Like he's saying, help me get out of this situation Isaiah).  Makes me laugh every time.
His vocabulary is off the charts.  Some examples are:  I will ask him "where's your train?" and he'll say, "maybe downstairs?"  The other day I was getting after Isaiah for throwing his cup of chocolate milk and Jonathan turns and asks me, "Isaiah a bad boy?"  "What'd he do?" And then he starts pointing at Isaiah, and shouting "you better stop!"  you better stop!"
-You name it, he's saying it, and even conjugating.  He'll get up from his nap and Jaime have left to work, so he'll ask me, "where's dad?" and I'll reply, "he's at work." And then he goes, "he's working?"
-Last two days he has peed on the toilet.  And he put "chonnies" on for the first time on his birthday.
-He is fascinated with looking at Isaiah's turds.  I think it all started because Isaiah refuses to flush down his poop until I go in there and see it (even though I ask him to get rid of it before I go into wipe him).  Jonathan is always right along side me, exclaiming "Wow!"  "Wow!"
-Is obsessed with the song "Gangnam Style."  Him and Isaiah both run around the house singing "Whooping Sky"  "Whoop, whoop, whooping sky."
-He loves staying busy.  Whether it is playing in the playroom, coloring, water painting, driving around his miniature car, going upstairs to play with his trains, pulling the couch apart to build a fort/create tunnels or jumping off the window sill onto the cushions, he is on the go.  And then he'll catch a glimpse of the sunshine outside and ask to go play outside or take a walk.
-He is always by Isaiah's side.  If he gets up before Isaiah, he'll climb up into my bed asking "where's Isaiah, Mama?"
-FINALLY OFF THE BOTTLE (one day after his Bday).
-Still sleeping in his crib
-No sign of  the terrible two's from this sweet boy yet:)

WE LOVE  YOU JOHNJOHN!!  HAPPY 2nd Birthday!!!

Cousins Galore!!!

October 2013-
Isaiah 3.5 years old, Jonathan days away from turning two.

Isaiah and Jonathan had so much fun visiting with all their second and third cousins that came for Leo and Mara's wedding.  It's unfortunate that we all live so far apart, but it's special times like these that you must never forget.

October 2013-Leo&Mara's Wedding

October 4, 2013
Isaiah 3.5 years old, Jonathan (Two this month)

Jaime's older brother Leo finally took the plunge and got married this month.  The irony in Jaime's family is that Jaime being the baby of the family was the first to get married and Leo being the oldest, is now the last. We are happy Leo finally met his FOREVER and love that Mara has joined the "Torres Clan."
It was Mara's and Leo's hope that Jonathan and Isaiah would be their ring bearers.  I had high hopes for that to happen too, but I should have known better after the complete meltdown Isaiah and Jonathan both had in Men's Warehouse during their last rented suit fitting.  I have never been so embarrassed and felt like such a horrible, incompetent mother than on this day.  Isaiah was being defiant and refused to try on his pants and coat and Jonathan was bouncing off the walls.  I had lost COMPLETE control of the two of them and the whole thing was a disaster.  So when Jonathan jumped ship before the ceremony and Isaiah had a complete meltdown when it was his time to shine, the feeling was all too familiar.
Jaime and I were part of the wedding so we went down the isle first.  Once it was Isaiah's turn he began crying and refused to walk. My Dad (who was there helping) decided to swoop him up and bring him down the isle.  Usually it is the norm, to swoop crying kids up and head away from the ceremony, but we like to mix things up.  Who needs bible versus, poems and flying doves when you can have a bratty, loudly crying, three and half year old serenading your wedding ceremony?  Sorry Mara and Leo...you can't say we didn't try.

They both showed up to the ceremony with CONFIDENCE.

Getting PEP talks from Mom and Dad.

Ready to GO!

Isaiah was feeling sharp in his suit.

My parents came to help us with the boys.  So grateful!

Trial run with Grandma Betty went PERFECT.

Letting his cousin Andrew know, "I got this."

ALL SMILES

Isaiah staring to feel the pressure.
And there you have it.

Glad it was all over.
