Isaiah at Two and a Half
(Entry: September 2012)
Isaiah is becoming much more independent. Sometimes when the days seem more manageable I realize it is all the little tasks Isaiah is doing on his own that is making my life easier. For example: Instead of juggling two little ones out to the car, Isaiah can walk out to the car and climb into his car seat on his own. Or in the early morning instead of crying for me to come get him out of bed he quietly walks over to our bedroom and climbs into our bed to snuggle. And he has started following directions. The other day we were up in Jonathan's room playing and Isaiah wanted his tent and tunnel that were downstairs in the playroom. Usually I would have to round up Jonathan and make the trek downstairs myself but I told Isaiah to go downstairs and get them...and he did. I was flabbergasted.
Isaiah has been taking the leadership role with Jonathan He'll ask, "Johnjohn, you want to play?" When Isaiah wants to play "cars" with Jonathan he brings Jonathan his four wheeled riding zebra to ride on and then goes and gets his Tonka truck to ride on too. Sometimes if Jonathan just sits on the zebra Isaiah hops on behind him and pushes him along. And now that Jonathan is getting bigger and finding his voice Isaiah is having to learn how to share. As Jonathan is reaching for something Isaiah is playing with Isaiah says to Jonathan, "No, it's mines, Johnjohn."
Potty training is in progress. I have no clue what I'm doing but the advice I decided to take from others is: when he is ready he will do it on his own. So in the last two weeks he has been the one to take the initiative and climb up on the toilet and pee before getting into the bath. Then one morning I asked him if he wanted to wear his underwear and he said yes. The next thing I know he is running to the toilet to poop. Some days he will wear underwear and pee a few times on the toilet and then other days he insists on wearing his diaper. It is interesting to note Jaime and I have both caught him running into the bathroom and closing the door to poop in his diaper. So slowly he is catching on to this whole "potty thing."
Isaiah has started speaking in sentences. One morning as I was eating a bowl of cereal he walks up to me and goes"What you eating Mama?" If he hears any type of unusual noise he will ask, "What's that noise?" And everything is why? Isaiah don't push your brother...why? Isaiah eat your dinner...why?
One word Isaiah has gotten confused with it the difference between you and me. He would say to me, "Mama hold me." And I would go "You want me to hold you?" So then he started to so say, "Mama, hold you." And now whenever we use the word you he replaces it with me. So when we sing the song "We're going to the zoo, zoo, zoo, how 'bout you, you, you?" Isaiah sings how 'bout me, me, me? Amazing how his little mind works.
