The Whole Truth, And Nothing But the Truth...

April 2014
Isaiah 4 years old, Jonathan 2 years old

You always hear of those parents who think their child can do no wrong.  I caught a glimpse of myself becoming one of those poor, convoluted souls one evening when Isaiah, my first born, my handsome boy, my world, my perfection...my baby told his first lie.
Suspiciously, he walks out of the bathroom, hurriedly closing the door behind him and says, "Mama don't go in there Johnjohn got all wet."  I walk in to find puddles of pee with globs of soaking wet toilet paper all over the bathroom floor.  I ask Isaiah, "did you do this?"  He matter of fact answers, "no, Johnjohn did."  I ask again, and get the same matter of fact (sweet) response from him.  In my twisted mind I actually start to to imagine Jonathan attempting to use the potty... mind you Jonathan still wears diapers.  CONVOLUTED I TELL YOU!!!   I'm thinking there is no way my innocent four year old could be out right lying to his mother or placing blame on his dear brother.   Fortunately, I am snapped back into reality when I call Jaime up to the bathroom.  It took Jaime one time of sternly asking, "Isaiah did you do this?"  And he broke.  Tears starting streaming down his face and he immediately responds "I'm sorry Daddy."   After apologizing to his brother for falsely accusing him, he was sent to bed an hour early.  I think WE both learned a VITAL lesson that night.

Does this look like a face that could lie to his mother?!?!

And accuse his brother...who I know he DEARLY LOVES!??!

Oh, my sweet four-year old we both have much to learn.
